Last night I went to a meeting of smart, advanced, involved women. The talk was Hillary. All the talk was Hillary. I love Hillary. I wanted Hillary. Hillary for President was my PLAN A. I am still praying for Plan A.
The opposite of Plan A is not defeat. The opposite of Plan A is not even a good question. Opposite is 180 degrees and, if I can’t have Plan A, I will only concede ONE DEGREE – I want one degree less than Plan A. My Plan B is one degree from Plan A.
My Plan B is for all 18 million who voted for Hillary and all the feminists who voted for Barack to join forces and insist that the new Democratic leadership~
1) Commit to gender and racial parity in all three branches of government. That includes every contract, every appointment, every hire. That includes the Cabinet, the Courts, all government agencies and contracts. That includes all of the staff, interns, pages, people in service positions from the kitchen to the garden. And how about insisting that the press corp also reflects diversity.
2) In addition to gender and racial parity reflecting the population, every person in this changing of the guard is paid equally for each position.
3) They support reproductive freedom including, but not limited to, choice. That means the choice to end a pregnancy and the choice to prevent a pregnancy which does not present abstinence as a reliable vehicle for pregnancy prevention.
My Plan B would change the landscape on all levels. It would make seeing women and men of all colors common place in federal government. Maybe then Rep. Pelosi won’t be asked if she has ever experienced sexism. Isn’t there a word for the question that contains the answer? Oh yeah, the person asking the question is an ASS. Okay, a SEXIST ASS.
If I can't have Plan A and Senator Obama commits to my PLAN B, I will consider that he is not sexist and consider taking his call.

Thank you for giving voice to a 'Plan B'-
Thank you for not focusing on defeat but rather on continued action-
The world needs us to be steadfast now- mother earth is calling on her daughters- we are in a time of golden crisis- a time when we have stockpiled the tools and desire to reclaim our union and move forward not as crashing waves- but as a single wave-
that creates a tsunami effect-
--comprised of all generations, ideologies and methods. A wave that embraces unity in diversity. A wave that encompasses all races, religions, sizes, shapes; beings from all socio-economic backgrounds, from all over this plant.
It is time to break the flood gates and the glass ceilings- it is a time for us to join forces.
It is a key moment for us all to write our names on that Plan B.
Now is the time to establish our individual roll in the crafting of such a necessary shift as the one you present Ms. Zoe. Thank you, again.
United we stand//Divided we Fall... Freedom of Speech, Separation of Church and State...
--there are a few fundamentals- universal truth's weaved into the foundation of this nation.
*It is these few notions that we can embrace steadfast, use as anchors, as we instigate the needed change.
I just finished my own first book: We Are Never the Same Person Twice.
I am doing all I can to add to the creative force-
that can and will come together to abstract, remold, and pioneer new frontiers.
May the spiritual goddess be invited to center stage along with the political woman-
may all aspects of our nature be revered as valid, righteous and necessary.
bless and be blessed.
with love and gratitude,
//layla

Zoe, I have no doubt that Obama is committed to both racial and gender parity as well as the other things you outlined above. But, he'll be president and not pope or dictator. He has to work with three branches of government as well as work with the entire populace. If that wasn't the case, Blacks wouldn't have fought for endless years to get what we should have got from birth. Do you know how many years it took to win Brown v. Board? From 1896 to 1954 and even then, it took decades for it to be implemented. And, that's just public school issues. I'm excited at the possibility that Michelle Obama will be First Lady. This is a very independent, strong, highly accomplished , non-Stepford type wife. She didn't get where she is because of her husband's help (she met him when she hired him as a summer intern), nor did she sleep her way to her success. I look at what kind of woman a man has. That speaks volumes. I have not a bite of pause when it comes to gender issues with Obama. He is light years ahead of McCain on issues related to women.
